INR

INR (International Normalised Ratio ) is used to monitor patients receiving warfarin therapy.

Warfarin is used to prevent and treat thrombosis and embolism. The therapeutic range of warfarin is narrow, so monitoring of INR is conducted to avoid complications from both over- and under-dosage. Over-dosage increases the risk of haemorrhagic events while under-dosage may result in thromboembolic events.

Belgravia Medical centre offers in-house INR testing which allows patients to directly discuss their INR levels, and any change in management that may be required with our clinical staff.
